ACT Relay Carnival (U6 and up) See calendar

Where: Woden Park Athletics Centre

You will have seen some info coming out about the Relay Carnival. This is an ACT Little Athletics event where Corroboree compete against other ACT clubs. It’s a fun day out and is held on the Woden Athletics track (a proper track) which is also a great experience and less prone to washouts.

Corroboree are the reigning champions having won the point score last season. We had 124 out of 300 members attend. To defend our title, we need at least one team in age group and gender. Extra teams are great as they also help us to defend the title. (It was a sea of Royal Blue last season).

Registration

You have to pre-enter with Little Athletics ACT (its not the greatest system – each athlete in the family has to be registered individually). Note – If you are not registered with them, you won’t be able to compete.

Teams

I’ll be proactive and sending out emails to create our ‘competitive’ teams very soon (one per age group and gender). But EVERYONE of ALL ABILITIES can compete and every person helps us gets closer to the trophy. I have way less results this season than I normally would so apologies if there is a speedster I happen to miss because they haven’t run this year. It doesn’t matter as they will just help whichever team they are on.

Event Format

There are separate start times for different age groups.

There are more events for each age group this season which will be interesting to watch (and our athletes might be a little tireder).

Slalom Relay – this is a relay where each runner weaves in and out of poles and will be conducted in the middle of the athletics track. Each runner runs 100m in total.

Swedish Relay – this is a four leg relay where each athlete runs a different distance. It’s a great race for the spectators.

• Runner 2 – 300m
• Runner 3 – 200m
• Runner 4 – 400m

Events for each age group are as follows:

U6-U8 (8.30-10.30am) – all straight track races

• 4 x 50m
• 4 x 100m
• 4 x Slalom Relay

U9-U12 (10.30am-1.30pm)

• 4 x70m – straight track  (U9-U10 only)
• 4 x 100m – round track (All)
• 4 x 200m – round track  (All)
• Swedish Relay – round track (U11, U12 only)

U13-U17 (1.30pm-finish) – all round track races

• 4 x 100m
• 4 x 400m
• Swedish Relay
