Corroboree Little Atheletics

ACT Relay Carnival (U6 and up)

Sunday, 19 November 2023
8:30am - 4pm

Where: Woden Athletics Track

The relay carnival is on earlier this season than usual so we need to get our act into gear. The process to collect fees has also changed meaning you now pay Corroboree and we get invoiced by the Capital Athletics. The cost for the Relay Carnival is $7.50 per athlete.

When: Sunday 19 November (not Saturday – we’ll still run a Corroboree meet on 18 November)

Where: Woden Athletics Track near the Canberra Hospital (a proper track)

  • U6-U8s race from 8.30-10.45am
  • U9-U12s race from 10.45am-2.00pm
  • U13+ including adult/open athletes, race from 2.00pm

There are three races per age group depending on the distance they are allowed to compete in.

  • U6-U8 do 4×50, 4×100 and a Slalom event (weaving in and out of poles) – all shuttle relays (i.e. out and back)
  • U9-U10 do 4×70 (shuttle), 4×100 (circular) and 4×200  (circular)
  • U11+ do 4×100, 4×200 and Swedish Relay (see below) (all circular)
  • Adults/Open do 4×100 and 4x400m (all circular)

Swedish Relay explanation

Four runners running different distances on the circular track in this order:

  • 100m
  • 300m
  • 200m
  • 400m

Who can enter?

Everyone can race on the day – we had up to four teams in some age groups last season. If we fall short of making a full team the leftovers can make up composite teams with runners from smaller clubs who haven’t been able to make a full team. We will do our best to ensure people who enter early enough get a chance to run in a full Corroboree team. If you enter late and full teams have already been put together your chances of being in a composite team are much higher.

Competitive Teams

Corroboree have won the pointscore for the last three seasons and we hope to make this number four. We do choose a competitive team for each age group based on performances during the childs athletic careers with Corroboree whether it be four seasons or one. Those teams will be put together after this weekend’s meet and families are asked if they can compete if they haven’t registered already.

We then try to balance the other teams out.

How to register and pay

Follow this link to fill in your child’s details and pay $7.50. If you have multiple children wanting to compete you’ll need to fill in the form once for each.

Entries Close: TBC

Shirts and Registration Numbers

You can not compete if you don’t have your registration number and Coles Age Group patch on your Corroboree shirt so this is a great reason to get that done sooner rather than later. There is a $10 cost to replace any lost rego numbers, so sewing is probably the better option!

It’s a great day out and Corroboree have totally dominated the competition over the last few years and we would love to do it again.
