Four new records to kick off the season

1 November 2024

We’ve had a few club records broken during the first two meets and at senior competition.

At the first meet on 19 October, Arthur Giason continued his record beating ways by breaking the U12 1500m walk record with a new time of 8:04.25s blitzing a 2018 record held by Max Smith of 8:29.34s.

At the second meet on 26 October, Freya Chambers broke the U9 Turbo Javelin record with a throw of 11.75m beating a record set last year by Myia Worth of 11.29m. Interestingly, Myia broke Tahlia Chambers record (Freya’s older sister) so throwing runs in the family!

At the Summer Series #2 event last weekend (26 October), Rachel Giason broke the 1500m U14 girls record with a time of 5:02.77s, beating Edith McKerracher‘s record set in 2023 of 5:09.98s. At the same event, Edith McKerracher broke two Corroboree records:

  • The first was in the U16 Girls 400m with a new time of 1:02.08s, smashing a 20-year-old record held by E. Baker of 1:08.00s.
  • Edith then backed that up in the U16 1500m running 4:46.60s to obliterate the old mark held by A. Baker (2007) of 5:52.50s.

Congratulations to these four budding superstars on your fantastic performances.
