Four Club Records broken in first two weeks

9 November 2021

Four Club Records have been broken in the first two meets of the season which is an amazing effort. Normally, we’d present these awards at a meet where we can all get together and congratulate our athletes, but with COVID we will take a more circumspect approach and present them in front of their individual age groups.

At the first meet of the season, Darcey Roberts (a brand new member to the club) smashed one of Lauren Boden‘s records when she took out the 1500m walk in a time of 7:54.00 (previously 9:09.10 set in 2003). Darcey hails from Victoria and is a National level champion in walks and it is great to have her at our club. She has told me she can go quicker next time out.

At last weeks meet, we had three records broken:

Joshua Lobo showed he is more than just a sprinter, breaking the U14 Male (700g) Javelin record with a throw of 22.80m (previously 16.07m set last year).

I had the pleasure of personally witnessing Misha Van Scheppingen leap 6.09m in the U17 Male Long Jump, breaking an 11 year record of 5.61m. He tied it with his second jump and totally smashed it with his third. This is the first time any athlete from Corroboree has jumped over 6m.

Laura Davidson broke her first ever Corroboree record in the U14 Female Javelin (500g) with a throw of 22.80m, bettering the old mark of 21.90m set last year.
Congratulations to all four athletes on your amazing accomplishments.

All of the clubs records can be found on our records page.
